Since
1994, Marcos Daskalakis runs the LEVANTES restaurant and cafe in
Adelianos Campos,
one of the hotel suburbs of the town of
Rethymnon
on the north coast of the island of
Crete.
The
place is easy to find as the restaurant is located straight on the corner of the "Old National Road" and the road to the village of Adele, so it neighbours the headoffice of Crete's leading car rental company
Eurocars.

As
the LEVANTES is not very large, the volume of the menu is surprising.
Probably the numerous regulars from all over the world are responsible for this as throughout the years they brought in their wishes and ideas.
For
local gastronomy it anyway means an enrichment as the LEVANTES is one of the few places in the region where one can e.g. get a decent steak - unfortunately during the time of the tourism season only as in winter Adelianos Campos is closed.

picture (late shift):
From left to right Michalis, Vangelis, Marcos, Dimitris, Giorgos and Vassilis. Vassilis who was the most cheerful team member, unfortunately died in a car crash in February, 2006.
Who ever happened to meet him will regret a lot.
In
the kitchen Dimitris has the say.
Of course there is also a photo available as the kitchen is always presentable.

Vangelis
is responsible for the bar and specialized in cultivated cocktails and cultivated music.
He is an oldies fan, and one of the few locals who in fact have a feeling for the sound of the Occident.
As
the LEVANTES is open-air loudness of the music has certain limits.
Even right on the bar it is possible to have a talk.
Many people do so, and to arrive in time will guarantee one of the best seats.
